Hello and Welcome to the Awana page for Victory Baptist Church. Thanks for stopping by and checking us out!!!!!!!!!
What exactly is Awana you ask? First of all, it is a Children’s Program for kid’s ages 3-12 years old. The word AWANA is an acronym for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed taken from the Bible verse, 2 Timothy 2:15.
The program basically has 3 parts to it:
1)
First is Game Time and the kids really enjoy this. We play all kinds of organized games with the kids and give them a chance to “run out their energy” after their day at school. Game Time for us starts at 6:30 PM in the Church Gym. The Gym is located in the back part of the Church Property (Just look for all the kids ... you’ll find us!)
2)
Second is Handbook Time and this is a time for kids to learn their “sections” and earn “share dollars.” We have different books for different age groups. They all receive “handbooks” filled with Bible verses to memorize and activities to complete. The handbooks we work out of use the King James Version of the Bible. With the completion of each section in their handbook, every child earns “share dollars” to spend at our “share store.” (In a nutshell ... share dollars is paper money that kids can spend for toys, gift cards and other prizes. We have the share store 2-3 times every year).
3)
Third is Counsel Time and this is our most important time of the evening. On one Wednesday of the month we gather the kids back together from their individual classes and have a special speaker to “preach” to them about the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The rest of the Wednesdays we join the congregation back in the main sanctuary (the big building) to hear our Pastor, Dr. Steve Ward, preach the Wednesday evening service.
Our typical schedule:
6:30-6:35 Opening Ceremonies
6:35-7:00 Game Time
7:05-7:30 Handbook Time
7:30-8:15 Counsel Time
We would like to personally invite you and your children to visit with us on any Wednesday evening during the school year and see how fun Awana really is.
